QUEST LIFELINES EXPLAINED
Social Lifelines, allows you to complete your Quest Steps, by interacting with friends. When you are stuck on a Quest, you may decide to use a Social Lifeline to help you move forward. Your lifelines, can be found at the top right corner of your quest box, and is in the form of a "lifebelt" icon.
You will not know which Social Lifeline you are going to get until you actually click the icon. The lifelines are completely random, and it is not always guaranteed, that the lifeline you are given, is going to be the one that can actually help you
You can only have one Quest with a Social Lifeline active at any point in time. If you use your Lifeline on a quest, and that quest is still running the following day or days (either waiting to expire, or you are still working on it), you will not be able to activate any further Lifelines (for future quests), until the quest that you have currently used a Lifeline on, has either been completed or expired.
However, you can still always make the products yourself. Social Lifelines are just alternative ways for you to obtains the products for your Quest Steps.
For now there are 3 different kinds of Social Lifelines:

GIFTING LIFELINE
This lifeline allows you to complete Quest Steps by using gifts or ingredients from friends. In this case after you accept the gifts or ingredients you will have to Store them for them to be counted toward your Quest Steps requirements.
If you require gifts or ingredients for your quests, you can ask for them, on the group wall, in one of two ways, or alternatively follow instructions on No. 3.
If you require gifts or ingredients for your quests, you can ask for them, on the group wall, in one of two ways, or alternatively follow instructions on No. 3.
- For ingredients, you must first post the request to your wall. For instance, if you can see on your quest that you are ultimately going to be asked to produce something like Hawaiian Pizza, you will open the Pizza Restaurant, and click on the “+” sign (in the box of Hawaiian Pizza), and post the request to your wall. Once it is on your wall, right click on the picture in the post, and click “copy link address.” You then go to the group wall, and “right click” and paste it into the comment box, at the top of the page (not forgetting to say that you need this ingredient sent to you, and what it is). If you don't have the facility, which produces the item that has the ingredients you need, then you can go to a friends farm who has the facility that you need, and request it via that way. You will need to have "buildings showing" and you would then click on the facility, and then on the + sign (in the box of the item you need). It would then post to your wall, in the same way, that you would ask for ingredients, from your own farm.
- For gifts, you can post on the wall, asking your friends, to send you that item, but that would not allow non-friends to help you. Non friends (members) cannot help you with the sending of gifts. Only friends can send gifts.
- FINALLY, probably the two easiest options of all. If you have gifts pending, then you can exchange them for the item you need, or you can go to one of the various free gift sites, and send it to yourself!! If you look in the group "Files", we do have a document, giving some recommended gift sites for you to use!
It has come to my attention that there is a possible glitch when you are asked to produce bait, and you have been given the gifting lifeline. You would think that this is easy as bait is a giftable item. However, due to all the problems with supplying the tackle shop (when it was first launched), Slashkey set the game, so that any bait that was gifted, went straight to your waterways (i.e Lakes, ponds, rivers, coasts). As the gifting lifeline clearly states, that in order for a giftable item to count towards your quest, you have to put the gifted item into storage. This is an impossibility when it comes to bait. The bait always goes to your waterways and not storage.
This also means that if you have to produce bait, the only thing that can help you, is if you have the means (i.e Fish Farm), to produce it. The Employee Lifeline wont help, as the Fish Farm isn't a workable Facility, and the Trade Lifeline wont help, as bait cannot be bought and sold. Unfortunately, as with most things on Farm Town, the Fish Farm is a Farm Cash item, so for most people, if they get this in a quest, it will be one quest, they will have to leave to expire! Maybe this is something that Slashkey didn't think of when putting the lifelines together, but something that they need to address!
Please note that gifting, only includes items which are giftable, or items, which are used as an ingredient in another facility. If the item you are seeking, is not used in another facility, then the gift lifeline will not help you.

TRADING LIFELINE
This Lifeline allows you to complete Quest Steps by trading goods with other farmers in the Market. The lifeline does state, "only in the market," but you are able to trade with other farmers, (whether they are a friend, or a member of the group), if you are on their farm, or they are on yours. You can post a request for help on the group wall, and arrange to meet at their farm, or invite them to yours by giving them your farm link, so that they are able to get there.
A very good tip, which was suggested by one of our members.....June Boden, is, if none of your friends, has the goods that you need, but you yourself do....then sell it to your friend, and then get them to sell it back to you!
Please note: The trading lifeline is only of use to you, if the item you need, is something that is a direct result of being produced on the farm. i.e. Crops, flowers, fish. etc. You cannot trade/buy finished products (i.e Bread, Scented Candles etc).

EMPLOYEE LIFELINE
This Lifeline allows you to complete Quest Steps by working for others on their farms or facilities. The products you receive, by working for others will count toward your Quest Steps requirements.
All you need to do, is post on the group wall, that you require a certain item. If you are then a person, who has what another member requires, either in your facilities, or by harvesting etc, then you should reply to the post, and either give them the link to your facilities (remember they have to be your friend, to work them), or your farm link, so that they can get to your farm, and you can hire them. Directions on how to get your farm link are below. To get your facility link (in order to post on the group), you need to right click on the picture on your facility post (on your wall), and click “copy link address.” You then go to the group wall, and “right click” and paste it into the comment box, of the person requiring the help. Alongside this, there is always your news feed on Facebook. A quick look, should reveal a few friends who have posted their facilities.
You will also need to remember, that when you harvest for another person, you only get 10% of what you harvested. If you need 2, then you need to harvest 20 (2 is 10% of 20). If the farm is fertilized though, then you only need to harvest 10, as fertilised crops now count as 2 towards the Quest Step requirements.

COMPLETING YOUR QUEST
There has been a lot of speculation, regarding the "Final Step" of a Quest. A lot of groups are informing people that the final step has to be done by yourself and on your own farm. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. Given the right lifeline, it is possible to use it, to complete the final step, and in turn, complete your quest. . In most cases, you will need to have the Employee lifeline, or in some cases, the Gift Lifeline can possibly help.
The only time a lifeline cannot help you, is if your final step is to "load" a product. In this case, many groups again, are reporting that you then have to complete the final two steps yourself, as the final "produce" stage has to be completed by yourself, as well as the "load" step. All "produce" steps, whether they are the final step, next to final, or at any point throughout your quest, can be obtained, as I have said, if you are given the right lifeline.
Unfortunately, there is no way to "load" a product, with the use of any lifeline. So, if you do not have the facility, you will not be able to complete the quest.
There is a new preference named 'Skip Funeral Facilities' in the preference window (wrench settings) that when checked will always skip the funeral facilities when you work for others, therefore you will never see any new products produced on them in your storage. This setting is also applied to quests. If you choose this option, you will never be given a quest to complete an item, from the Funeral Facilities. This was introduced, when the Funeral Facilities were release and proved to be a very sensitive area with most players.
HOW TO GET YOUR FARM LINK
1. Go to your farm.
2. Go to your (extended) tool box. If it isnt extended then click on the green arrow at the top, to open it out.
3. At the top of the first column, on the left hand side, you will see the Farm Selector Manager Icon. It is a green grid. Click on it.
4. Click on "Copy Link" and then click on the farm which you wish the member to arrive on.
5. Finally go to the group wall, and paste your link, in the comment box. The member can then click on your link and it will take them to your farm.
Note: To paste, you just "right click" and then click "paste".
