MAINTAINING MULTIPLE TABS - A POSSIBLE RESOLUTION!
In this doc, I'm going to try and help you to understand, how problems with opening tabs, can possibly be due to the processor on your computer and the amount of RAM (Memory), that you have. I will hopefully give you some useful information, that may help you, when it comes to opening multiple tabs (for layering, trains etc)
The older your computer, the less RAM you are likely to have, and the older your processor will be. When you open Farm Town on your computer, it uses a certain percentage of your RAM. Therefore, the more tabs you have open to Farm Town, the more Ram (Memory) you are using. If you reach the maximum limit that you have in RAM, then you will experience your tabs crashing. Further to this, your processor is working all the time, but as you open a tab, such as Farm Town, the useage on your processor will increase. Again, your processor has a maximum to what it can hold and from that point, it basically starts queuing everything, and tabs can crash.
This means that if you have an older processor , along with very limited RAM, you are not going to be able to maintain, very many tabs.
Further to this, browsers also handle tabs very differently, and will often have resources running in the background of them, which in turn, will use more of your RAM and cause your processor to work harder. These resources will run, on every tab that you open, which obviously considerably limits your RAM and processor.
After testing all main browsers, I would recommend, that should you want to open numerous tabs, then the best browser to use is Opera. Opera is a "stripped down" browser, and uses a lot less resources, compared to other browsers. This means that your CPU Useage (Processor), is drastically lower than the useage of other browsers. This in turn, will help those of you with older computers who suffer from performance problems due to old hardware (Processor etc).
To put this to the test, I did a trial on every browser. Although I opened 24 tabs on every browser, please keep in mind that my processor is Intel Core i3, and my RAM is 8GB. If you have an older processor and a lot less RAM, then you will probably not manage as many tabs as I did. But hopefully, you will be able to open the amount of tabs that you require for your needs.
The results on some browsers compared to Opera were quite staggering. They are as follows:
After opening all tabs, my useage for RAM and my Processor were.......
Internet Explorer - My processor was working at 100%, which means it was at it's max and I only had 1GB of my RAM left.
Firefox - My processor was working at an average of 50% and I had 2GB of my RAM left.
Chrome - My processor was working at an average of 25% but with only 1GB of my RAM left.
Comodo - My processor was working at an average of 15% and I had 2GB of my RAM left.
Safari - This browser was so slow to even open multiple tabs, that I gave up, and my processor useage, was fluctuating to 50% just to open a tab.
However, when I then opened all tabs on the Opera browser, my processor was only working at an amazing 8% and I still had 2GB of my RAM left. Moving from tab to tab, was swift and smooth and there was practically no "drag".
Please remember that these figures are based on 24 Farm Town tabs being open. So, if you were needing to open, far less tabs, then your useage would be a lot less, and hopefully, if your processor is old, and RAM is low , Opera may still be able to hold them for you.
If you do not have Opera and would like to give it a try, I will give you the link, so that you can download it. You only have to click on the link and you should be directed to the page.

One last thing, as your RAM and processor are used for all tasks on your computer, then it will help considerably if you did not have anything else, running at the same time. The more useage you are using, on your computer, the less you will have to help maintain your tabs. So basically, just have your one browser running, with your Farm loaded and then go forward and open your tabs.
If you would like to see your computer useage at any time, then just follow these instructions:
1. Press Ctrl, Alt, Delete, at the same time on your computer, and click to open your task manager
2. Your Task Manager Box will appear, and click on the "Performance" tab, located at the top.
3. You will then see your CPU Useage (Processor), and your Memory Useage (RAM).
As this is all new to me also, this doc could be subject to change, as over time, I could discover more advantages or disadvantages.
However, hopefully it will be of some use to many of you.
