For this months competition, we are "stepping away" from the more regular themes, once again. To celebrate the new Freight Cars, recently released, we are going to focus this months competition on the "Trains" themselves - both decorative trains and freight trains.
Over time, numerous train decorations have been released including the raised train tracks, so that you can elevate your tracks etc, making the designing of a "train farm", a lot more interesting and varied. You can design your farm, in any theme or style of your choosing, but you MUST include at least one train on your farm. You can use your "Freight Train", or it can simply be a decorative train (ie the trains that can be obtained with coins). Your train can have one car attached, or numerous cars attached, and you can also have multiple trains if you so decide. It's entirely up to you!
Trains have been a popular form of transport, since the 19th Century. When the first Steam Train was built in 1804, people were worried, that the speed, would make rail passengers unable to breathe, or that they would be shaken unconscious by the vibrations. Railways greatly helped industry, but not everybody approved of them. Some farmers believed that trains could cause cows to produce stale milk. However, trains did allow farmers to get their products to market quicker and this was very important to farmers producing perishable goods.
By the 1850's, passengers were travelling at previously unthinkable speeds of 80 KPH (50 MPH) or more. Rail travel was cheap, and people who had never been on a journey before could now afford to make trips by train. Cities, that had once seemed far apart, suddenly felt much closer together, because people and goods could move between them, in hours, rather than days. In some places, new towns sprang up beside the tracks.
Trains have shaped the world we live in since their emergence hundreds of years ago! From transporting food and goods to bringing people across entire continents, there is no doubt, to the importance of the technology associated with locomotives. Each train type serves a specific purpose, using various designs to meet the needs of whatever (or whoever) is aboard.
Hopefully, this brief history, will give you a few ideas, when it comes to designing your farm.
The competition will start today, and end at 8.00pm on 30th September 2015 (GMT). This should give you plenty of time to create your farms, without the pressure of an early deadline.
We will give five prizes of 55 Farm Cash, but these prizes will be awarded across the board, so that all levels of ability have a chance to win. So, please do enter, even if you feel that your farm is basic, as we are looking for for beginners as well as the more advanced.
As with all competitions, there has to be a few rules. The rules for this competition are as follows:
1. You have to be a member of Farm Town Freestyle Designers.
2. The farm has to be your own farm, and not the farm of a friend etc.
3. All farms must remain decorated until the day after the event is closed and shall be verified for entry via our Independent Adjudicator.
4. You must state that you wish your farm to be entered into the competition
5. You may enter only one farm. Again, this is to keep things fair for everyone.
6. Once you have entered your farm in to the competition, you may not EDIT your entry in any way shape or form. Your farm MUST look exactly the same as when the competition closes as it did when you entered it.
7. You will be able to harvest any crops, trees etc. Crops must be in place at the close of the competition, and can be any crop, but they either must be growing or fully grown and not wasted. Tree's can be chopped and harvested, but again, please ensure that the tree's that you have chopped, are at full growth, when the competition closes. If your tree's are chopped at the time of the judges visit, then this could prove detrimental to your entry. The same goes for flowers. You can harvest them, as and when you wish, but they will need to be at full growth, by the time the competition closes
8. Please ensure that you are happy with your farm before entering as once it has been entered, it CANNOT be changed.
9. The judging panel and adjudicators decision is final
THIS COMPETITION IS NOT OPEN TO THE ADMIN (OR THEIR RELATIVES), OF FARM TOWN FREESTYLE DESIGNERS, AND ALL SISTER GROUPS.
This competition is just for FUN, and we hope that you enjoy taking part. We look forward to seeing your entries.
